Exciting News for the Burnett Family!
Hold onto your hats, folks! The Burnett family is expanding once again! On Monday, March 12, it was confirmed that CNN star Erin Burnett is expecting her third child. Erin, who’s 41, and her husband, David Rubulotta, tied the knot back in 2012. They’re already proud parents to two adorable children—a four-year-old son named Nyle Thomas Burnett Rubulotta and a two-year-old daughter named Colby Isabelle Rubulotta. This new addition is sure to bring even more joy into their lives.
Erin Shares Her Excitement
When speaking to People, Erin couldn’t contain her excitement. "We are so thrilled about baby number three. As one of three myself, I truly believe it’s a lucky number!" she exclaimed. For Erin, this pregnancy isn’t just about growing her family—it’s about creating a dynamic that feels complete. Growing up as part of a trio herself, she has firsthand experience with the special bond that comes with having siblings.
Reflecting on Motherhood
Back in 2013, shortly after welcoming their firstborn, Nyle, into the world, Erin opened up about becoming a mom for the very first time. "This is something we’ve always dreamed of, and we’re incredibly fortunate," she shared at the time. "The moment I saw him for the first time—it was like nothing else in the world could compare. It was pure awe and pure joy."

For Erin, motherhood has brought a new perspective to her work as a journalist. Covering heavy topics like war and gun violence has taken on an added dimension since becoming a parent. "It’s almost like these issues become more real to me now. It’s not just about covering stories anymore—it’s about thinking about the kind of world my kids will grow up in. I want them to feel safe and inspired to explore and make their mark," she confided to The Wrap.

Interestingly, Erin’s children are starting to understand what their mom does for a living. "Sometimes, my son Nyle hears my early morning calls or listens when I say, 'Oh, we need to tune into this radio interview.' That’s his morning entertainment now instead of Barney," Erin joked. She sees this exposure as a positive thing, believing it will benefit him in the long run. Congratulations to Erin and David on their third pregnancy! Wishing them all the happiness in the world!
